Books in the wildBooks on the beachβ± Periodicals in the park π Comics in the . . . colonnade? Idk, you get the idea. In fact, we should have a "take your book outside" day. Actually, there is a fun day coming up in July, but we'll get to thatπ. I know not everyone reading this is basking in summer's warm glow. Or in my case, melting on what feels like the surface of the sun! My Australian friends are bundling up for winter. But even in front of an outdoor firepit, there's something about getting outdoors while we escape to a different world. Do you have a fave outside reading spot? Let me know here. β

Nerds in the wildWe might be better known for attending cons, playing video games or huddled in a corner with our nose stuck in a book, but there's plenty to do in the great outdoors! Want to inspire the kiddos? Set them on a treasure hunt. When my kids were little I teamed up with a few neighbors and created a treasure map (think Goonies) and set them on their way (with some strategic chaperoning). They're in their 20's and they still talk about it! Wanna go on your own treasure hunt? Try Geocaching. Or check out this nerdy nighttime game:

Other outdoor escapades:
Join me on a road trip π It's time for my annual trip to the Realm Makers writer's conference July 15-20. A four day trek with camping in the Smokey and Shenandoah mountains and even a night in a haunted hotel in Gettysburg. I'll be chronicling all the shenanigans via Instagram if you want to tune in.
πNow, about that date. July 13th is Celebrate Your Geekness Day! Raise a glass and give a toast to all the geeks in your life. We celebrate you and all the weirdness you bring to our world. π₯

Currently Reading . . .I bought this book a while back, but I'm sure you can empathize with an out-of-control TBR pile. I'm not usually a fan of thrillers, but as a fantasy author, sometimes it's nice to branch out.

Until next time, may the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.

Every month, new nerdy content. Check it out and sign up for more. In the meantime, have fun storming the castle!
From the Siege of Bodenburg beginnings to the now digital D&D Beyond, the highly immersive D&D game play has been a nerd staple since the 70's. The campaigns capture all the elements of the fantasy world: A detailed story world, imaginative characters, and epic monsters. We don't just read about it. We decide how the story goes! D&D isn't all fun and games. It's work, too. Ask any DM (Dungeon Master) and they'll tell you the number of hours it took to get ready for their current campaign. It...
